Our story
It all began in Ibiza, in the heart of Marina Botafoch, with a small 40 room hotel, Ocean Drive Ibiza
In 2009, Marc Rahola envisioned a new model of hospitality that not only provided a place to stay but also connected people, inspired creativity, and activated the cultural and social life of its surroundings. This was the origin of Ramat, shaped by a clear vision and a distinctive sensitivity rooted in art, music, and community.
But the story of Ramat does not start with a hotel alone. It begins with a family. Marc is Víctor Rahola’s and Mayte Matutes’ son, an architect and an interior designer. Together, they actively contributed to several of the group's projects, leaving a creative and deeply personal mark on each space. That multidisciplinary and human approach has been with Marc from the very beginning.
In 1998, Marc joined Grupo Empresas Matutes, a family-owned company from Ibiza known for leading brands such as Palladium Hotels, Only You, Bless, TRS, and its powerful entertainment division Ushuaïa Entertainment (Ushuaïa, Hï, UNVRS). Founded by his uncle Abel Matutes Juan, a key figure in Spain’s tourism industry, the group is a major player in both hospitality and leisure. Marc led the group’s international expansion, driving growth in the Caribbean (Jamaica, Mexico, Brazil, Dominican Republic) and in the urban tourism sector. Today, he remains involved as a shareholder and advisor to the family holding, chaired by his cousin Abel Matutes Prats.
After more than a decade leading OD Group with brands like OD Hotels, Ryans, Concept Hotel Group, and other cultural and real estate ventures, Marc felt the need to consolidate that journey under one identity. That is how Ramat was born. The name is a contraction of the surnames Rahola and Matutes, a tribute to his parents and a reflection of the values that have guided him: loyalty, effort, integrity, and the courage to do things differently.
